Singapore Airlines unveils ultra-luxurious First & Business Class seats for one of the world’s longest flights

For frequent flyers, enduring long-haul flights just got a serious luxurious upgrade.

Singapore Airlines is set to redefine in-flight comfort with a S$1.1 billion investment in new First and Business Class seats across 41 Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range aircraft.

This fleet enhancement promises to transform the in-flight experience on some of the world’s longest routes, including Singapore Airlines’ iconic 18-hour journey from New York to Singapore.

Introducing First Class suites onboard the A350s

The pinnacle of this upgrade lies in the new First Class suites, tailored for the airline’s seven A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) planes. Designed to set “new industry benchmarks,” these premium suites fuse exquisite luxury with modern ergonomic touches for unrivalled comfort on ultra-long-haul flights.

While specific details remain under wraps, a recent teaser video on the airline’s Instagram provides a glimpse into this elevated experience. Expect serene interiors, with each suite offering complete privacy. Japanese-style blinds are featured as well, allowing passengers to control their environment, further enhancing the suite’s tranquil feel.

Currently, the A350-900ULR aircraft feature only Business and Premium Economy seating. The introduction of the upcoming four-seat First Class design will bring an added level of exclusivity and comfort to these flights.

According to photos released by the national flag carrier hint at sliding doors retrofitted into the Business class seats.

Updates extend beyond first and business class, as Premium Economy and Economy cabins will be enhanced with Singapore Airlines’ latest KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system, offering a personalised experience across all travel classes.

Inside Singapore Airlines’ S$1.1 billion A350 fleet transformation

The first retrofitted A350-900 long-haul aircraft is scheduled to take flight by the second quarter of 2026, with the first A350-900ULR variant following in early 2027. All we know is that this marks a new era in ultra-long-haul luxury travel, as Singapore Airlines redefines in-flight comfort for its longest routes.
